Favorite Christmas Picture Books--List #1

This is a wonderful time of the year to snuggle up with your favorite child, whether they are young or old, and read some of the classic Christmas picture books. I have so many Christmas books that I love that it was hard to narrow the list down so I will probably have multiple lists. Because I have so many favorites, I have to start reading them early in November so there is plenty of time to enjoy them.
Here is List #1 in no particular order of "favoriteness".
I hope you enjoy!

If you love Berkeley Breathed's cartoons, you will love this book.
My third grade teacher, Mrs. Monroe, read our class The Birds' Christmas Carol and I loved it so much that I borrowed her copy and tried to write it word for word. This isn't really a picture book, but it had to go in my list of favorites. I don't know where my handwritten copy disappeared, but I now own several copies of my own. Warning: A real tear jerker.
Kate DiCamillo (Because of Winn Dixie, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and many more) is a wonderful author. This book doesn't disappoint.
Of course when you share this book you must have hot cocoa and a silver bell for each of the little children in your audience.
The illustrations in this story taken straight from the Bible are priceless. The book will make every woman who has ever carried a child appreciate the fact that she didn't have to ride a donkey in her 9th month of pregnancy.

I would love to know some of your favorite children's Christmas books so that I can add to my list.

Happy Reading!

Hi there! I started visiting your blog a while ago from a link on your sweet daughter's site. Had to stop and say thank you for the book recommendations. I wrote down the last list that you posted and reserved almost all of them from our local library...and LOVED them! Clara didn't want to return them. I'm now adding to the list with these. It's great to get recommendations from someone you know!

Hope that things are going well in your new surroundings! Can't wait to meet that new grandbaby of yours!
Take care!
Erin
