Antique Game Night

Image
Once a month, we have an event at our church for the women of the congregation and their friends. It is a time to just hang out and get to know each other and each others neighbors and friends better. This month, we had what was billed as an Antique Game Night. We played games from yesteryear. It was so much fun to have several of our teens attend. We enjoyed vintage snacks such as cokes (in bottles) with peanuts dropped in for excitement. There were also Twinkies and Hostess Cupcakes. Hopscotch kept us on our toes. And some of us on the ground. Hula Hooping Jump Roping Jacks Simon Says and Mother May I? Musical Chairs got a little competitive. Pick Up Sticks Puzzles Checkers Candy Land The very best part of the night was the sound of laughter as women got to know each other and enjoy each other's company. If you live in the Colorado Springs area, we hope you will join us for our March event. BUNKO! WHAT IS A FAVORITE GAME FROM YOUR CHILDHOOD?

What a Neat Thank You!

My sweet husband is always doing something kind for someone. His kindness is only exceeded by his generosity. Recently a friend made him a cookie bouquet as a thank you gift for something kind he did. Check out these beautiful cookies. And Jeanette, they were delicious too. And did you notice the great vintage sifter that serves as a vase? I'm hoping David might share that with me.

Happy Birthday Poppy!

My sweet daddy (Poppy) passed away a little over a year ago. God is so gracious in providing us with comfort in a variety of ways. In this picture taken by Rachel DeBell Photography at Kelly and Adrian's wedding, notice the image that appears over Poppy's head. I am reminded of the Amy Grant song "Angels Watching Over You." Poppy definitely does not need angels watching over him. He is praising God right now as I write this, but thank you God that your angels are watching over all of us who he left behind. We'll all meet you one day, daddy.

Health Upddate February 5, 2012

Many of you read my post about the "Ringing of the Bell" when I completed my Radiation Treatments. I had my own personal ringing of the bell this week for what I believe is a milestone. I am not advertising this blogpost on FaceBook as I often do because there might be more information that some of you want to know, but if you are interested, please read on. On February 1st, I had my first 3 month check-up with my oncologist. All blood counts and the examination showed that I am doing very well. Then on, February 2nd, my plastic surgeon did surgery. He replaced the temporary, expander implants with permanent implants. He also removed my chemotherapy port. What a special way to "end" this part of my journey. Thank you God! Thank you friends and family for all your support and prayers.

Any Valentine's Ideas?

I bought 100 of these little hearts at a resale shop last weekend. Does anyone out there in Blogland have a good idea for what I should do with them?
