Book Review: My Book of Life by Angel by Martine Leavitt

Image
My Book of Life by Angel by Martine Leavitt My rating: 5 of 5 stars The sex trafficking industry is heartbreaking.  I was aware of the serious problem and of the alarming statistics, but this excellent book put a face to the problem.  I strongly recommend this book.  Although the subject matter is very disturbing, the author deals with the issue in beauty and grace. Book Review--Little Lost Dog

Image
Little Dog, Lost by Marion Dane Bauer My rating: 5 of 5 stars If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would.  Beautifully written!  Although this is an overused word, this is definitely a sweet book.  But beware, if your child reads this book, he/she will probably ask for a dog. Cinder by Marissa Meyer My rating: 5 of 5 stars I loved this book and I am not even a fan of Science Fiction.  I definitely see a sequel coming. Thank you, Jenny, for pointing me to books I might not read otherwise. View all my reviews

Breakfast with Santa

Image
Our church, Eastside Church of Christ, hosted a Breakfast with Santa this year. We had lots of fun seeing Santa, eating yummy food, doing Christmas Crafts,  and showing off our grandsons. Caleb 5 1/2--almost 6 Aaron 2 1/2 Nana and Ducca even got in on the pictures. These guys look so big. The only sad part of the day was that David, our other grandson was out of town and wasn't able to attend with us. One highlight of the day is not pictured. It had snowed the night before the event, so Ducca "drove like a pirate" through the empty part of the church parking lot with the boys yelling " MORE !"

Happy New Year Party

Image
One of the joys of being a  Stay-At-Home Nana (yes, I just coined that phrase)  is that I get to have parties with my little guys for special occasions. Getting ready the night before. Party hats are a must for a New Year's Party. Always ready to party. Another party animal. There aren't many books to go with the New Year's Theme, so we had a co-theme of Noah's Ark. Noah had to start fresh just like we start fresh each new year. (A teacher learns to make anything fit with the theme she has chosen.)   Macaroni died with food coloring for a craft.   The little guys thought it was fun but their attention span was not that long. Caleb decided to "do his own thing." Can you say first born? I can say that because I am one. One of the exciting (non-planned) activities was throwing all the balloons down the stairwell. Can you find all three boys? They are all there.   We made rainbow cookies. Yes, I often wear a super-

Prayer for 2013

Image
Aaron praying on Christmas Eve photo by Mandy Our prayer for you for 2013 is-- The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift his countenance upon you, And give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26 I am reading a book that is excellent-- Transforming Prayer: How Everything Changes When You Seek God's Face by Daniel Henderson Henderson's premise is that we often seek God's hand (to help us, to help our loved ones) but we don't often seek His face (to get to know Him more intimately). As I strive to seek His face in 2013, I will also be seeking His hand.  I would be honored to add your needs to my prayer list.  You can send me a private message through FaceBook or e-mail me if you would like me to be praying for you. May God Bless You in 2013.
