Leaf Peeping--Colorado Aspens

Image
It was a beautiful Saturday, so we decided to join all of the other "leaf peepers" enjoying the colorful Colorado Aspen trees. I wish I could find a way to post the smells and the quaking sounds. Pictures just don't do God's amazing creation justice.   The sky was a brilliant blue. The mountains add a gorgeous backdrop.   These horses seem to be enjoying the sights as well. Happy Fall, Y'all.

Happy Fall

Image
We are fortunate to live about 5 minutes from FOCUS ON THE FAMILY . I have always appreciated and admired what this organization stands for. They also have some of the most beautiful trees in our area and their trees are always among the first to show their fall colors. Isn't God's beauty breathtaking? Happy Fall, Y'all! Autumn in Colorado--2011

Image
We took a drive last week up to Cripple Creek to enjoy the beauty of autumn in Colorado. This cute wagon and all the beautiful trees were in someone's front yard. See the satellite dish on the left. Views from a distance. We ended taking Country Road 8 from almost Divide to Colorado Springs. It turns into Gold Camp Road. The up-close views were amazing. Check out that beautiful lake. I love seeing these old abandoned cabins and wondering who lived there. Up close view of the leaves. I wish you could have heard the quaking of the Aspens! A closer view of the lake. Isn't God's beauty breathtaking?

The New Interior Design

Image
You might remember my fall decorating post . It contained the collection of gourds below. Well, a new interior designer came to our house the other day. Hint: He is starting his career at the ripe old age of 3 1/2. Not sure how to define this new look, but hey, it works in my house. At least I can be assured that no one else's house has the same decorations as you can see at the Gibson house.

I LOVE Autumn

Image
Being a Native Houstonian, I haven't experienced many "true" autumns except the one year we went "leaf peeping" in the Northeast. I am thoroughly enjoying the display of color this year. These photos were taken from my front yard, looking up and down the street. Thank you, God, for the beauty of Fall. Finally Fall!

Image
It is finally Fall here in Colorado Springs. The locals say that autumn is making a late arrival, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the lengthy summer! I must admit though that when I went out this morning and it was rainy, and the trees were changing colors, that autumn sneaked up and charmed me. These pictures were not taken at the local Farmer's Market, but from the display on my coffee table. Welcome Autumn! I had an e-mail from a sweet friend the other day questioning if everything was OK in my family. She said that I hadn't posted on my blog since the middle of September and she was worried. Just in case others have wondered the same thing, all is well! We are just super busy! I have been in the Denver airport for the past 3 weekends and will be there again this weekend flying to Houston and to Las Angeles. Busy, busy times but things should calm down in November just in time for the holidays. So, please don't give up on checking my blog. I will return when life gets a...

Fantastic Garage Sale Finds

Image
Our neighborhood had a community garage sale today. I had seen the signs and thought I might go out for just a few minutes on this lovely fall morning just to see what was out there. I really didn't NEED anything, but isn't that when you usually find the best buys? Here are my Fantastic Finds for today! More "guys" for Caleb and then David and Aaron to play with at Nana and Ducca's house. You can never have too many guys. 25 cents each! I don't know the official name of this, but I call it a Johnny Jump Up toy. It hangs from the door frame for a baby to bounce in. One of my favorite memories is Caleb jumping in one of these and laughing, laughing, laughing. The little guys will enjoy using this when they come to visit. $5.00 An oak filing cabinet. I have looked at these new, but just didn't want to pay as much as the stores wanted. Garage Sale List Price=$40.00 Bargained Price = $20.00 Old Fashioned Mixer "It doesn't work," the lady kindl...

Pumpkins in September???

Image
It is a Gibson family tradition to devour Mellocreme Pumpkins by the fistful during autumn. It's as American as Apple Pie. But this is crazy. Pumpkins in the stores already?? It's only September for heaven's sake. Miss Lea, you're going to have to wait a while for your pumpkins. (Inside joke--if you don't get it, it's OK).
