He Leadeth Me

Jeremy made me swings for under the deck and his boys are already enjoying them. This is Aaron's smile face. Caleb's smile face. Wee!  This is fun! Learning to hold on tight. Don't you just love his shoes? This boy loves Sesame Street characters as much as his brother loves super heroes.   Since Sweetie is here visiting, she got to enjoy the swings too.  

You might remember the Help Please post where I asked readers for their ideas on what my deck should look like. I mentioned that I wanted more of a "back porch" look than a "deck" look. Well, here is what I came up with. Wait a minute, don't panic. This is just step one. I found this old table at Goodwill. It was in pretty bad condition looks wise, but was structurally sound. Since David is seriously considering banning me from all spray painting, I decided to go the paint and brush route. Of course, I had to ask my brother Terry, Mr. Sherwin Williams, for advice. I decided on a beautiful baby blue table with red retro chairs. Notice the bird feeders. We have lots of birds come and visit but they are a little camera shy. The chairs remind me of the ones that my Grandma Aven had on her breezeway. I have always loved this type of chair. If you look carefully in the picture below, you will see another retro chair. It has been banished to the lower deck. Although...

This is what my back deck currently looks like. BORING!!! I just cannot decide on what kind of furnishings I want there. That's where you come in. I desperately need your help. Maybe it would help if I tell you what I don't want! I don't want traditional patio furniture. There is nothing wrong with traditional, but I want something different that is unique and me. Here are some things I have considered. A old fashioned picnic table Shabby Chic Patio furniture (I already have a green rusted chair that David is not so fond of) Antique School Desks painted with outdoor paint A glider! OK--what do you think? I need some of your great ideas! Oh, I almost forgot! I don't want to spend a fortune. And one more thing--I'm more of a "back porch" kind of girl than a "deck" kind of girl!

My mom noticed when I gave my home tour the other day that I didn't have any pictures of the Master Bedroom. That was because I had a dilemma. I had purchased some really neat bed linens in black, white, and red, but the house had the custom drapes and valance that you see below. The Black, White, and Red just didn't match. I have been searching for a while for something that we could really like and that would also match the drapes. Today I found it! And ON SALE!! I love the new look!
