Freezing Fog

Image
When I checked the weather as I do each morning, I saw the term "Freezing Fog." Although we have lived in Colorado for almost a year and a half, I wasn't familiar with that term. When I opened my shutters, I saw the evidence of Frozen Fog. There is no snow on the ground because it didn't snow. But the trees and bushes are covered with a dusting of icy beauty. Isn't God's creation amazing? Just a little FYI: Freezing Fog makes sidewalks VERY slippery. Who knew?

Great Caleb Quotes

Image
Photo by Mandy Gibson When our grandson, Caleb, spends the day with us, we can always count on some great quotes. Here are the quotes from today. Quote #1 I was reading Caleb a Super Hero (of course) book that he brought to our house. At the end of a particularly exciting page, he said, "Nana, that's an exclamation mark-- you're supposed to read it like this..." Then he proceeded to "read" the line in his most excited voice. I thought I knew something about Reading--after all I teach about it at two universities, but a three and a half year old set me straight today! Quote #2 As many of you know, Caleb loves to wear his Super Hero pajamas all the time. Today he had on his Batman PJ's. During the afternoon, I noticed that his underpants were not on his body, but in the bathroom on the floor. Nana: Caleb, did you have an accident? Caleb: No. Nana: Did you get your pants wet? Caleb No. Nana: Did you get your pants dirty? Caleb: No. And then matter-of-f...

Hallelujah Chorus

I was sent this beautiful link this morning by a dear friend. I sat watching it with tears in my eyes. Yes, the shoppers at Macy's were treated to a Random Act of Culture, but more importantly they were blessed to hear God praised. Please take a minute to watch. It will touch your life. Psalm 57:9 I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. Awesome! Pop-Up Hallelujah Chorus at Macy

School Visit

Image
In my career as an educator, I have visited many, many schools. But last week, when I was visiting Chipeta Elementary, where I have the opportunity to work with student teachers, I observed something I have never seen before. These hungry fellows weren't bothering with the school cafeteria. They much preferred to get their "free" lunch outside under the trees. As you can tell by the rearview mirror, these photos were taken from my car as I was driving into the parking lot. What a delight to see wildlife up close and personal!

The New Interior Design

Image
You might remember my fall decorating post . It contained the collection of gourds below. Well, a new interior designer came to our house the other day. Hint: He is starting his career at the ripe old age of 3 1/2. Not sure how to define this new look, but hey, it works in my house. At least I can be assured that no one else's house has the same decorations as you can see at the Gibson house.
