He Leadeth Me

Our little goblins this year were Batman, Monkey, and Super Grover. It was also great to have church friends and neighbors stop by. We gave them candy. They gave us hugs. I'd say that's a pretty fair exchange. HAPPY HALLOWEEN JUST A LITTLE LATE.  

If you are looking for a fun Halloween picture book, look no further.  Frenkenstein:  A Monstrous Parody is adorable.  On the front cover, you see a Caldecott looking sticker which says, "A CaldeNOT Horror Book."  A great spoof of the Madeline books. Frankenstein by Rick Walton My rating: 5 of 5 stars I loved this book.  Children will especially enjoy it if they have read the Madeline books.  The back book jacket says "Ludworst Bemonster is the pen name for author rick Walton and artist Nathan Hale, who got bored one Halloween and decided that thier favorite children's book would be much, much better if there were monsters in it.  Perfect for Halloween. Halloween was very special this year because it was the first entertaining we had done in a while. We had 4 little goblins and their parents over to our house. For those of you who remember Taylor, Mandy's cousin who lived with them in Houston, this is her daughter, Caroline (the closest to a granddaughter that I have right now.) She's not sure what to think of her first cupcake. Caleb Aaron David Caroline with her proud daddy Josh Taylor, Caroline, and Josh (with Aunt Kelly looking on) All four of the little goblins At the end of the evening, when the parents were ready to take the kids out to Trick-or-Treat, Aaron and David decided they would instead go downstairs to play. True Confession Time: For the past two days, I hadn't put on make-up. I was just too tired to worry with it. But this morning, I decided it was time to be "me" again, so I put on make-up and even "hair." :) Then this little superman and his dad and brother stopped by our house to visit. They had been to yard sales and Caleb had bought a face painting kit. Jeremy did the honors of painting Caleb's face and then Caleb wanted to paint Nana's face. Let me tell you, only a grandmother would go to the trouble of putting on make-up and then letting her grandchild paint away at her face. The white base paint was COLD! The make-up expert was very thorough. Not only did I get a full white face, I got black bones painted on. In case you can't tell, we are skeletons. Caleb wanted us to look alike. Can you tell how excited I was with the final result? Isn't it amazing what we will do for our grandchildren?

When my family was trying to convince me to move from warm Texas to cold Colorado, they kept telling me that the cold wasn't the same in Colorado. They said there could be snow on the ground and if the sun was shining, you wouldn't feel cold. I didn't really believe them because I am such a cold natured person, but today I became a believer. Today is Halloween and earlier in the week the temperature was in the teens and it snowed for two entire days. But when the sun came out, we were back in shirt sleeves with the windows open to let in the nice breeze. Most of the snow had melted, but in some spots where it was shady or where the snow plow had piled up the snow, there was still plenty of the white stuff for little boys to play with. Who can resist un-trampled on snow? And when your grandpa carves out a snow tunnel, it is the greatest. This little snow bunny loves his "mummy". Did I say that little boys enjoy the snow? I meant little and big boys. Caleb lov...

.....of Caleb at Nana and Ducca's house. First, you have to play hide and seek in Nana and Ducca's bed! A trip to Wal-Mart to pick up a few items that Nana needs, nets one scary pumpkin mask. And then, of course, a boy has to learn how to be a chef! You need your own apron and oven mitt. Concentration is a must!! Just the right amount of Worcester sauce is needed to make the best "Texas Trash!" I'm the best at pouring in the pretzels! I have to eat a few in the process just to be sure they are good enough for this recipe. Nana loves having me as a helper! When the cooking is done, it is time to read a good book! Nana was actually reading and I was playing with my cars. I thought it would be a better idea if she played with my cars, and I sat in Ducca's comfortable chair and read her book. She didn't tell me there weren't any pictures in her book. Oh, well, a good book is a good book, pictures or not.
