Chalk Painting 101

Image
I have wanted to learn to Chalk Paint for a long time, but was just a little scared to dive in. My daughter-in-love, Mandy, is never afraid of a project. She has done several pieces with chalk paint and offered to teach me how.  Since David and Jeremy were going on a weekend road trip, we thought Saturday would be a great day to have the tutorial. Excuse the fact that this BEFORE picture is off-center. Kelly and I picked up this little dresser years ago on the way home from a trip to Canton, Texas-- oh how I miss that place. I like the wood finish, but thought this might be the perfect piece to get a make-over. My family, Jenny, Stacie, and Gail had picked up this wonderful "G" for me at Canton and it just didn't look right on any of my walls.  It needed to POP! Caleb was our photographer as we got ready to start our projects.  Mandy had picked up this little table on the side of the road--FREE- and she brought it along to show me ...

Old Glory Antique Fair

Image
For many years I got to enjoy the wonderful Canton Flea Market , in  Canton, Texas billed as the largest Flea Market in the world. I read about the Old Glory Antique Fair in a magazine and thought it would be fun to check it out. I am so glad I did! It was AMAZING! Of course I took along my two favorite antique/junk shoppers. WARNING:  THIS POST IS VERY PICTURE INTENSIVE. For those of you who enjoy Antique eye candy, read on. For the rest of you, you might want to scroll through quickly. Life is Beauty pillow. At first, I thought it said, Life is Beautiful. I think I like this better. Don't you just love rusty old tricycles? The plastic ones of today are just not the same. Love the No Trespassing Sign on the chair. Believe me, by the end of the day, we needed to trespass on any chair available. One of the reasons I love living in Colorado is that this state is so very aware of our servicemen and their families. Love this si...

Washing Hair = Jesus Washing Feet

Image
If you had told me a week ago, I would have this picture of me on my blog, I would have told you you were CRAZY! Not my best pic ever! But as my daughter, Kelly, aptly put it, this might be Happy Memory #1/Post Mastectomy. My sweet daughters found a way to wash my hair, which was driving me absolutely crazy. They learned how to do this from our great Messiah, as he was willing to wash his disciples dirty feet. HAPPY MEMORY #1 More to follow!

Happy Half Birthday

Image
Mandy has a wonderful tradition of giving her children 1/2 Birthday parties. She says that she always got so excited as a child when she turned 1/2 a year older, that she decided to make a celebration out of the 1/2 birthday. She makes 1/2 a birthday cake and everyone everyone sings Happy 1/2 Birthday to You. Caleb was totally surprised by this exciting event and the line I treasure the most from the night was, "I can't believe it! I just can't believe it!" Click here to see last year's celebration. My daughter-in-law is one smart mama.
