Nana Cousin Camp 2015 KNIGHT Edition

Image
Our most recent Nana Cousin Camp had a KNIGHT theme. Using the water bottles I had  on hand, I printed the labels from HERE . Since they weren't really Soda or Cola, we added Crystal Light On the Go Drink Packets but they were really MAGIC powders in case you wanted to know. We had an object lesson about the Armor of God.  You can find it HERE. It would have been even more impressive if the peeled orange had sunk to the bottom like it was supposed to. I don't think any of the kids realized that Nana kept manually pushing it down.    They then made Knights out of food.  These pictures pretty much capture each grandchild's personality. Find Knight Food Directions HERE .   They each made their own shield. And of course the highlight of the day was the jousting. Feel free to skip some of these video clips.  I am posting them for posterity (or to embarrass them when they are older.) As a

Nana Cousin Camp 2015--Planting a Rainbow Edition

Our theme this week was Planting a Rainbow. The books we used were Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehle t and  Noah and the Animals by Prue Theobalds  In the interest of being real, this experiment was somewhat of  a Pinterest FAIL! You will see what it REALLY looked like later in this post. Pasta boiled in food coloring (which the children p

Nana Cousin Camp 2015--Archeology Edition

I have to thank my friend, Lynn Leaming, for this great Nana Cousin Camp Idea. The idea was to freeze layers of water with artifacts inside and then let the kids discover the items by  being archeologists.   Click HERE to see website with the idea. Here is Aaron working away. The green tub is the archeological dig. The basket is where you collect your artifacts. The cup contains warm water for softening the ice along with a paint brush for careful removal of the artifacts.     Working away but stopping for a photo shoot. Cute archeologists. The little archeologists were hard at work. The boys (surprise, surprise) soon discovered that it took less patience to throw the blocks of ice down on the sidewalk and break them up to find the artifacts. Cora, however, was extremely patient and used her paintbrush to unearth the artifacts. The quick method yielded quick artifact results. So many great finds. We also learned that Bible archeol
